1) Quinton Ganther, WAS - RB - With
Portis on the IR and Rock Cartwright, well not quite
rockin' in fantasy, we like
Ganther here. Just as an FYI , he's playing Oakland, which in case you didn't know, has allowed 158.7 rushing yards a game to opposing offenses to go with 18 allowed rushing touchdowns -- bad news for the Raiders defense, great news if you're about to pick up Mr.
Ganther.
2) Davone Bess, MIA -
WR - Ladies and gentlemen, allow me to introduce Wes
Welker 2.0, aka
Davone Bess. The
Phins receiver hauled in 10 catches for 117 yards in Week 13 against New England. Yes, that's not a typo, against the Patriots and Bill
Belichick. Expect Bess to get more involved in the Miami offense as the season winds down and the team tries to further develop chemistry between him and quarterback Chad
Henne.
3) Garrett Hartley, NO - K - It's a shame, John Carney was a decent kicker. That is until Hartley strut his stuff in Week 13 (4
FG's and 3
PAT's) against the Redskins in Carney's absence. Hartley has two strong factors going for him in the final four weeks of the season. First, he's playing in the
NFL's most explosive offense, which guarantees him several extra point attempts a game, not to mention numerous field goal attempts when the Saints march up the field and can't convert on a score. Secondly, he's playing indoors the next three weeks. So what? You may ask. Well, it is winter and the cold weather can really affect a kicker's play and kicking strength. There's nothing quite like a dome to give your kicker that extra reassurance.
4) Vince Young,
TEN - QB - Young is questionable against the Rams in Week 14; however, Jeff Fisher was confident he would play in Sunday's game. If you need a QB for that late run fantasy punch, Vince is your man. Ever since being inserted into the starting lineup, Young has averaged 208 passing yards per game to go with nearly 30 rushing yards per game. Throw in 6 passing
TDs and a rushing score with only 2 picks on the season and what we have is a viable fantasy threat.
5) Louis Murphy, OAK - WR - With Bruce
Gradkowski emerging as quite the difference maker in Oakland,
wideout Louis Murphy is suddenly making noise on a team once thought to be a fantasy wasteland. Murphy amassed 128 receiving yards per game and 2 touchdowns in Week 13 against a still-reasonably good
Steelers defense. That says a lot. And you know what it also says? Go pick him up now.
6) Jermichael Finley,
GB - RB - Where to begin? Oh yeah, 6 receptions in Week 4 (128 receiving yards, 1 TD)...7 receptions in Week 11...7 receptions in Week 13 (79 receiving yards, 2
TDs). He's known to have quiet stretches throughout season, but when he is fantasy relevant, he'll let it be heard. Green Bay is fighting for a Wild Card spot, so expect Rodgers to look his way often if wide receivers, Jennings and Driver, are covered.
7) Devin Thomas, WAS-
WR - He's been getting his fair share of targets these past couple weeks, so what's not to say he won't continue to do so. Last week against the Saints he compiled 100 receiving yards and 2 touchdowns. This week he faces a tough Oakland pass defense that could prove a tough assignment, nonetheless, Jason Campbell likes throwing his way. Expect high single-digit to low double-digit fantasy points in Week 14.
8) Chad Henne,
MIA- QB - He's coming off a huge 335 passing yard and 2 touchdown performance against the Patriots and facing a pass-susceptible Jacksonville defense in Week 14, which has allowed 242 passing yards a game and 20
TDs through the air so far this season. The funny thing about all of this is the fact that he's available in all too many leagues across fantasy sites. If you're starting QB has a tough match-up in Week 14, do yourself a favor and pick up
Henne. Chances are, from strictly a match-up standpoint, he'll place in the top 10 this week for fantasy points among quarterbacks.
9) Steve Breaston,
ARI -
WR - If you need a receiver in Week 14,
Breaston is the exact kind of player you should be keeping an eye on. He's been quiet for weeks on end, which means he is sure to have a break-out game very soon. He's playing San Francisco this week, who allows an average of 268 yards to opposing receivers. All we have to say to this is: Steve
Breaston, do your thing 'cause this match-up looks very favorable.
10) Ahmad Bradshaw,
NYG - RB - The good news is he's probable this week against the Eagles. In addition, he's managed to score against Philly on one other occasion this year (Week 8). Though he won't get more than 12 or so carries, this could be the week he breaks a big one for a score in a pivotal game against a division rival, in which the Giants' playoff hopes lie. In layman's terms, Bradshaw's play could determine whether or not the G-Men even make the playoffs. So yeah, you could say he has some incentive to perform come Sunday.
